FleX and Flow
DirectX 12 comes to NVIDIA GameWorks SDK.
GameWorks DX12 is now available for developers to create DirectX 12-optimized games using a wide range of rendering and simulation effects, along with libraries and tools made available by NVIDIA at no cost. With the aim to increase the production value in games, the latest GameWorks SDK include FleX uid and Flow gas , both of which allow for a visual experience that is more realistic and seamless. Turf Effects, on the other hand, renders large-scale grass areas with self-shadowed grass blades, which are put to great use in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. Other additions include HairWorks 1.3 for dynamic hair and fur rendering, Blast for real-time destruction of buildings and environments, NvCloth for cloth physics, and GPU Rigid Bodies GRB simulation. “These resources will ensure that GeForce gamers can enjoy the very best game experience on DirectX 12 titles, just as they have on DirectX 11 games,” said Tony Tamasi, Senior Vice President of Content and Technology, NVIDIA. Asynchronous compute in DirectX 12 allows GPUs to perform post-processing, lighting, and physics workloads. GameWorks DX12, in turn, enable developers to maximize the power of multi-core CPUs and compute cores in GeForce GPUs to simulate and render these dynamic visual effects in real time, while still delivering smooth gameplay. To date, more than 1,000 PC games are using GameWorks technologies.
