Win­ning de­sign in­spired by sci­ence, beauty and dreams

In the fall of 2016, Fer­rari Far East em­barked on a spe­cial project ti­tled #dreamFerrari to cel­e­brate and spark in­no­va­tion and de­sign. This was a great plat­form for Fer­raristi to delve deeper into the heart of de­sign of the pranc­ing horse mar­que while ex­plor­ing per­sonal cre­ativ­ity realms. The first model was built in 1940s by Enzo Fer­rari, an Ital­ian car marker now world renowned as the mar­ket leader in ev­ery as­pect be it con­tin­u­ously rais­ing the bar or push­ing the bound­aries of de­sign, es­pe­cially in sports cars. At the core of the brand, is a com­mit­ment to pro­duce the best Fer­raris that are stoked with the flame of pas­sion and one that ful­fils dreams.

Af­ter nu­mer­ous sub­mis­sions and months of se­lec­tion, the team of judges led by Se­nior Vice Pres­i­dent of De­sign for Fer­rari, Flavio Man­zoni, se­lected a win­ner. Mon­ica Hu­tama, a third year graphic de­sign stu­dent who com­bined the very essence of sci­ence, beauty and dreams into her de­sign. She en­vi­sioned the ex­pe­ri­ence of driv­ing the Cal­i­for­nia T through the mind’s eye and de­scribed her work as a vis­ual rep­re­sen­ta­tion of the bil­lions of neu­trons that fire through the brain as a driver take the wheel of the Fer­rari, with the in­fi­nite pos­si­bil­i­ties it brings.

Di­eter Knech­tel, CEO of Fer­rari Far & Mid­dle East shared that “the cre­ativ­ity which we have seen from the youth in Sin­ga­pore has sur­passed all ex­pec­ta­tions and is won­der­ful to be able to see the many ways in which Fer­rari con­tin­ues to in­spire.” The in­au­gu­ral de­sign com­pe­ti­tion hopes to con­tinue bring­ing pas­sion and emo­tion of the pranc­ing horse to a new gen­er­a­tion.
