Mizuno says optimising driver launch angles and spin rates can make a difference of about 23m. So they’ve created their most adjustable driver ever, to let a fitter dial in spin rates and launch angles best suited to your game. Two 8g weights in the sole can be split between either a central track to lower or increase launch angle and spin, or positioned in toe and heel slots to create a draw or fade bias. A sliding “face angle prop” lets you choose how the driver looks at address without affecting loft.
Mizuno probably isn’t the first name to jump out for golfers when considering a new driver. However, we’ve got no hesitation in saying the JPX900 is the best driver Mizuno has ever made. You’ll likely need a physics degree to set it up to best suit your game (or leave it to a qualified fitter) but all round, it looks great, performs brilliantly and possibly offers more options than any driver on the market. It didn’t out-gun the very best for distance for any tester. But two testers (one being our pro) were confident they could slip the blue-headed JPX into their own bags in a flash.
