A curtain raiser for the World Road Meet
The 1st International Road Federation (IRF) invitational golf tournament was held on 5th March 2017 at the Peacock Course of the Delhi Golf Club as a curtain raiser for the forthcoming 18th IRF World Road Meeting (WRM) that is being organised by International Road Federation (IRF) from 14 -17 November 2017 at Delhi.
The endeavour of WRM is to promote road safety and smart mobility to help in reduction of accidents and movement of traffic. WRM is a global event to further the cause of Road Safety across the world including India. Through its consistent efforts, the IRF assists Governments in various ways to achieve the objectives of reducing Road Traffic fatalities. The prestigious WRM is held once in every four years in different cities across the world. Since India has the second largest road network in the world, it paved the way for being the venue of WRM 2017. The Government of India is fully supporting the event and has decided to hold the
Global Transport Ministers’ Meeting, one day prior to the WRM, i.e. on 13th November 2017.
The IRF Invitational Golf acted as a curtain raiser to WRM 2017 and provided both public and private sector key functionaries an opportunity to interact on the greens and network in a highly conducive atmosphere. The event, managed by Apexlynx Sports & Events, brought together high profile invitees including top Administrators, Decision Makers, VIPs and top representatives of the Government and Heads of Missions.
Played as an Individual Stableford event over 9 holes with a Shot Gun start, the event witnessed the exclusive group of 33 players interacting and competing with each other during their quality time spent together.
Upon completion of the golf round, participants congregated along with other non - golfing invitees to attend the cocktail and prize presentation evening held in a beautiful setting just behind the swimming pool of the Delhi Golf Club.

Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) welcomed the guests and provided a short introduction to the impending WRM in which 4,000 delegates from across the world are expected to participate. The event also contemplates a large exhibition of over 7,000 sq. metres showcasing products and services from across the world. Mr Vijay Chhibber (Advisor IRF and Ex-Secretary to Government of India (Road Transport & Highways) presented a vote of thanks and thereafter the Prize Winners were felicitated by various dignitaries present at the function.
