PRESIDENT, THE UNITED STATES

Nationality: American

Under the spotlight: The president’s portfolio of 17 high-end country clubs around the world will be in the news more than ever following his inauguration. Most interesting will be the response of the golf world. Trump’s strategy is to use the majors as a sales card for his courses: he remains hopeful of Turnberry hosting its fifth Open Championship while the Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey hosts the 2022 US PGA and his Ferry Point course in New York City is in the running for a US Open. The future? Perhaps an indicator of how things are going to go came from Jay Monahan, the new PGA Tour commissioner, who described having Trump in the White House as ‘awesome’.
