A Chinese star

Golf Asia (Malaysia) - - SCENE -

Nationality: Chinese In need of a hero: China is waiting for its golf hero to emerge. The country has several notable players, but competence and the occasional good performance are not enough. We’re looking for stardust, a golfing version of the great Chinese basketball player Yao Ming, who became the face of the NBA in his home country.

Unlimited potential: With a middle class of over 100 million people, the Chinese have the money and the time to take golf to their hearts – if the communist government allows it.

A Chinese Tiger: The country needs to be electrified by its own Tiger. When – rather than if – he or she arrives, the sport will never be the same again.
