Sin­ga­porean golfer John­son Poh won the 2017 Sin­ga­pore Pro­fes­sional Golfers’ As­so­ci­a­tion Golf Se­ries by four shots, achiev­ing a ca­reer best 64 in the process. The three-day event with a S$30,000 prize pool was spon­sored by Mr Tan Teck Kee and held at the Raf­fles Coun­try Club’s Palm Course. Poh came close dur­ing the last two events of the se­ries when he fin­ished 2nd and then 3rd be­fore fi­nally emerg­ing as cham­pion. He closed the fi­nal day with an 8 un­der 64 to fin­ish at 14 un­der 202 to cap his maiden 2017 win. Poh’s il­lus­tri­ous am­a­teur ca­reer high­lights in­clude win­ning four SEA Games sil­ver medals at the 25th and 28th SEA Games, rep­re­sent­ing Sin­ga­pore at the 16th and 17th Asian Games and the World Am­a­teur Golf Team Cham­pi­onship (Eisen­hower Tro­phy), was crowned Sin­ga­pore Na­tional Am­a­teur Cham­pion in 2010 and 2014, and he topped the SGA Or­der of Merit in 2014 be­fore turn­ing pro in 2015.
