Mercedes-Benz presents Vivetta in Global Fash­ion En­gage­ment 2017

As part of its global fash­ion com­mit­ment, Mercedes-Benz has also con­tin­ued to sup­port young and ta­lented fash­ion de­sign­ers through the Mercedes-Benz In­ter­na­tional De­signer Ex­change Pro­gramme (IDEP). Launched in 2009, the pro­gramme of­fers bud­ding de­sign­ers an ex­clu­sive op­por­tu­nity to present their col­lec­tions out­side of their lo­cal mar­kets, and to a larger au­di­ence.

Mercedes-Benz pre­sented Ital­ian de­signer Vivetta Ponti at Mercedes-Benz China Fash­ion Week for the first time, show­cas­ing the epony­mous de­but Au­tumn/Winter

2017 Col­lec­tion as part of the MercedesBenz In­ter­na­tional De­signer Ex­change Pro­gramme (IDEP). The Mercedes-Benz China Fash­ion Week took place from 25 March to 31 March 2017.

The di­rect ex­change saw Chi­nese de­signer An­gel Chen show­cas­ing her col­lec­tion at Mi­lan Fash­ion Week on 23 Fe­bru­ary 2017. De­sign­ers were cho­sen from a short­list of five Ital­ian and six Chi­nese can­di­dates, where a panel of judges in­clud­ing the Chief Con­tent Of­fi­cer at Elle China, Mar­ket­ing Di­rec­tor Bei­jing Mercedes-Benz Sales Ser­vice Co., Ltd and a renowned Ital­ian au­thor and jour­nal­ist were present.

Ponti emerged the star amongst five other short­listed Ital­ian de­sign­ers. The col­lec­tion took its start­ing point from a daz­zling 1940s cir­cus, with masked ladies, har­le­quins, ac­ro­bats, Pier­rot clowns and merry-go-round uni­corns ap­pear­ing as exquisitely hand-em­broided mo­tifs on vin­tage-hued sil­hou­ettes. Soft vel­vet and vinyl were also used to the sig­na­ture poplin and tulle Vivetta fab­rics, call­ing for a mood of retro and fab­u­lous jewel colours in­spired by the pal­ette of French painted Jean Met­zinger.

The mul­ti­tal­ented de­signer was ed­u­cated at Liceo Lin­guis­tico Le Man­tel­late in Florence and cf­pPaullo in Mi­lan, with work ex­pe­ri­ence in Roberto Cavalli for a good three years.
