‘Don’t overdo it at the range’

Noren deliberately joined a course without one... and this is why

Last year I joined a golf club with an old British-style golf course. It is called Ullna, near Stockholm, but the most important thing is that it has no driving range. That was important for me because I could never handle the balance between improving my technique and playing. Now, I play a lot more on the course. Before, if I played nine holes and I didn’t feel so good, I went to the range. Now, I use the course as my range. I really was that player who didn’t know when to stop hitting balls on the range. But now I’ve grown out of that. For me as a player it doesn’t work any more. But if I never allowed myself to practise that would be tough, so I use the range over the winter. I used it to work on some bigger changes – but six weeks of that was enough.
