The Callaway Championship 2017
A fun filled and exciting tournament with prizes galore
The first leg of the Callaway Championship this year teed off to an awesome start at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf & Country Club (SAASGCC). This event, which is in its second year running, is one of the most awaited golfing events on the amateur golfing calendar. Callaway Golf Malaysia through Leonian Singapore, the brand’s exclusive distributor for South East Asia, have outdone themselves with a fully subscribed Championship that has a long waiting list of participants as well.
“We are truly overwhelmed by the support from our brand loyalists, who without fail always turn up in full force whenever we hold Callaway events, be it a new product launch or demo days at a golf club here in Malaysia. We are indeed blessed to have such great supporters, and in line with such overwhelming response, we will be having an additional leg in East Malaysia some time later this quarter on top of the other happening at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club in
November,” said Kevin Yeap, Country Manager of Callaway Golf Malaysia.
Participants of the Callaway Championship at SAASGCC were also greeted with a special Odyssey Putter Fitting session at the practice green that afternoon. Participants got to test and were fitted with the latest revolutionary Microhinge insert technology of the 2017 O-Works range of putters and on top of that, Callaway’s latest GBB EPIC range were also available for a test drive.
Great prizes awaited those who played well, and the winners took away the latest Callaway GBB Epic range of equipment and Odyssey putters.
The Championship was based on the Stableford System 36 format, with the top 5 winners from the A-Medal and top 4 winners from the B-Medal category receiving the attractive prizes.
The A-Medal category saw Lam
Kong Foo (handicap 7) clinching the Championship title for the category with 41 points. Coming in second was Allan Yap (handicap 9) at 39 points winning on count back over Lee Pak Hong (handicap 10), followed by Eric Foo (handicap 7) at 38 points winning on count back for forth place over Idzauddin Bin Idrus (handicap 7).
