DUFNER EMERGES OUT OF THE STORM
The weather interrupted Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide certainly had an ending and champion that surprised many.
Jason Dufner won on 13-under 275 and won by three strokes.
But it was before two rain delays that gave this event an exciting rollercoaster ride to the end.
Dufner had lost a five shot lead in the third round, and started the final round with a four-shot deficit.
But he held on calmly with a final round 4-under-par 68 to join tournament host Jack Nicklaus as the only Ohio-born winners of the Memorial.
“Yesterday was not my best day,” Dufner said after carding for a 77. “But I had to get over it quick. It’s a 72-hole tournament, there’s a lot of things that can happen out there. I knew I was still in the mix.”
