Modi & Rosa rolls out an unforgettable gastronomical experience.

estaurants serving Italian cuisine are guaranteed to receive a favourable reception from Malaysians so it’s not surprising that the opening of Modi & Rosa in Glo Damansara Mall has provided suburban Kuala Lumpur with a classy new Italian bar and restaurant.

Modi & Rosa comes with the heritage of the well-respected Marini’s Group so the Italian flair and style is guaranteed but without the long journey into the city centre.

There are two distinct parts to this outlet with the bar and restaurant being separate entities but which share adjoining space and a common kitchen. The bar area appeals for its classy, deep leather lounge chairs, exciting

Rgolfdigestmalaysia bar snacks (and access to the restaurant menu), impressive Italian wines, a tranquil setting and, icy cold beers at very attractive prices considering the surroundings. This is the perfect place to clinch a deal or to celebrate a successful deal as the outlet has a definite unhurried pace without too many other patrons, the background music is unobtrusive, and, Cuban cigars are available as are premium Italian wines. Modi & Rosa is discerning, discrete and distinguished.

No one needs an introduction to Italian cuisine and Modi & Rosa has an extensive selection of well-recognised dishes from all over Italy including pizza, pasta and, in the bar, bar bites or tapas. These are served from opening until late to complement the beverages offered. Patrons can select from dishes such as fries with truffle oil, Mumbai chicken with crispy fried onions, soft shell crab with wasabi mayo and, open beef sandwich accompanied by goat’s cheese. Fries with truffle oil provide a different flavour profile for those who like the distinctive taste of truffles with the beef baguette sandwich being just as inviting with the equally distinctive taste of this style of cheese.

A cheese platter consisting of cheeses including Pecorino and Gorgonzola is artfully decorated with carrot and celery sticks to make a perfect accompaniment to red wine. While chicken wings are not included on the tapas list the highlight of the tapas menu is the Mumbai spicy chicken which is hot but not overly spicy with the added joy of deep fried onions.

Moving onto the restaurant menu, drinkers can select dishes such as the pizza a la Modi and Rosa with truffle oil, Mozzarella, shaved Parmigiano and covered in loads of fresh arugula (rocket). Ask for some imported chilli oil to sprinkle on top for some added spiciness. Beef cheek with truffle mash and veggies served with a reduction of beef jus features a prime beef cut, cooked to perfect tenderness and accompanied by silky smooth, truffleinfused mash. The tiramisu is appropriately prepared with alcohol (Marsala) and lashings of creamy Mascarpone cheese.
