LEXI THOMPSON IN VICTORY LANE
American Lexi Thompson became the first LPGA player to savour the traditions of the Indianapolis 500 after winning the inaugural Indy Women in Tech Championship presented by Guggenheim.
After signing for a 19-under 197 and a four-shot victory over Lydia Ko at Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, she gave the finishing line bricks of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the traditional victor’s kiss.
“I'm very happy that it was me,” said Thompson, who drove the pace car around the track at 122 mph. “It was such a great week overall and it was a huge honor to be here in Indiana to be able to kiss those bricks. Definitely a memory that I'll never forget.”
She also enjoyed the milk drinking tradition on Victory Lane that dates back to 1956.
