The Creation of Honma
Japan’s pride of clubmaking continues traditions of fine craftsmanship and quality THE BIRTH OF ‘MADE IN JAPAN’
HONMA GOLF CO.,LTD have been offering customers top-quality golf clubs for the past half-century, since its establishment in 1959. The company was started by the descendants of the HONMA house who were a prominent merchant family hundreds of years ago, in the Sakata region of north western Japan.
Each and every club is painstakingly hand-crafted, including the casting, coating, polishing, and paint coat application processes, as well as shaft production by some 100 craftsmen. The “Made in Japan Sakata” imprint represents the pride of the Sakata craftsmen.
No ordinary sports equipment, these clubs are renowned as nothing less than works of art. Still far from becoming complacent with their global reputation for excellence, Honma are committed to continue delivering golf clubs that delight customers the world over through a unique fusion of traditional and innovative technology.
The path to clubmaking mastery is long. It begins with apprenticeship and concludes when a craftsmen is able to infuse his every movement with a single goal to make the finest clubs in the world.
At the peak of his craft, a Honma clubmaker can imagine exactly how the finished club will feel and play in the client’s hand. Technology continues to evolve, but the master craftsmen at Honma understands that one value remains timeless: creating precision tools that golfers will cherish. Something the entire team takes great pride in. Pride begins and ends with the work of their master craftsmen.
PURSUIT OF PERFECTION
Honma connoisseurs look to Honma clubs for more than performance. They seek the spirit of uncompromising perfection that’s built into every club the company makes.
There are no compromises, no automated golfdigestmalaysia solutions. Mass-market clubmakers seek to eliminate human error. At Honma they seek to capture human artistry, something which they take great pride in. Pride that begins and ends with the work of master craftsmen.
At Honma, their focus extends to the last hundredth of a millimetre. It’s in this ultraprecise realm that they seek out new improvements. Some of the master craftsmen have been occupied by this quest for two decades now at the Sakata Design Facility.
The craftsmen understand that at the pinnacle of the clubmaker’s art, each new creation must be infused with both beauty and performance. The process starts with the latest materials and technologies, of course, but their goal is to move quickly beyond the science of clubmaking, and into the art. NOTE: Honma Golf equipment is available exclusively at MST Golf and Pan West.
