BEAUTIES & GOLF UNITE FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Miss Cosmopolitan World pageant comes to Palm Garden Golf Club for the first time.
In what would likely be a first in amateur golf, golfers were pleasantly surprised to be accompanied by a bevy of international beauties before tee off, on the course and during a prize presentation.
The Miss Cosmopolitan World Organization in partnership with the Palm Garden Golf Club hosted a Big Hole Charity Golf event on Wednesday, the 6th of September in benefit of the Yayasan Sunbeams Home for the displaced, abused and neglected children.
The Miss Cosmopolitan World was founded back in 2015 by Amelia Liew, who has vast experience in international beauty pageants. Miss Cosmopolitan World is focused on fostering unity and understanding among Asia and the world as well as providing opportunities for the candidates to further develop interpersonal skills through individual and group activities.
The golf tournament received an overwhelming subscription of 92 players who were presented goodies worth RM1,460. One of the highlights was a Rolex watch worth RM50,000 that was sponsored by MPI Generali as a Hole-in-One prize on the 17th hole.
Among other novelty prizes that were up for grabs was an M2 Blondal Outdoor water filter worth RM3,698 and a 40” Sharp LCD TV worth RM1,700.
Other sponsors of the event include MST Golf, Luen Heng F&B Sdn Bhd and Coconut Water (Cowa) Sdn Bhd.
At the prize presentation ceremony, the generous participants were treated to a special performance by The Strollers, while lucky draw prizes sponsored by Luen Heng, MST and SHARP were also awarded. An auction was held to raise funds for the home to add on to the tournament entry fees.
The auction managed to raise RM28,400 and the proceeds were donated to the Yayasan Sunbeams Home. The main event of the night was the crowning of Miss Palm Garden 2017.
With the support from her home crowd Miss Malaysia, Chenelle Wong, walked away as Miss Palm Garden 2017. She eventually finished in fifth spot in the beauty pageant.
