HOW TO ENTER
Harper’s BAZAAR recognises the importance of setting a new platform to encourage Malaysian designers to participate in a regional inaugural competition to promote their creativity, as well as provide the opportunity for continued learning at an internationally renowned fashion design institute, Instituto Marangoni (London campus).
The competition is open to applicants aged 20 – 30, who are either graduating fashion students or emerging designers currently residing in Malaysia. The winner will be judged on his or her creativity, originality, commercial viability, and technical ability to produce work that is on par with the standards of Harper’s BAZAAR. Participants must use a commercially feasible fabric/material that can be dry cleaned and/ or washed. Participants are to include either hand-drawn sketches or web illustrations. Limit one entry per person for the entire contest period. Each entry must also include the following: 1. 12 design sketches for Spring/Summer 2014 Ready-to-Wear suitable for womenswear. 2. Completed submission form (please e-mail email@example.com for a form).
Each entry submitted must also adhere to the following guidelines: 1. Works submitted should be of original content. No portion of the entry should be copied
in whole or in part from any other work that is not the entrant’s own. 2. Submitted entries should not have been previously published or entered into any competition or contest or won any award prior to submission for this contest. Harper’s BAZAAR reserves all the rights to use images and submissions to promote the designers and the competition.
Judges are looking for 1. Design, Creativity & Commercial Viability (70%) a. Imagination/Originality (20%) b. Consistency throughout the collection (10%) c. Technical knowledge in garment construction (20%) d. Commercial viability (20%) 2. Business Plan (30%)
a. Overall quality of submission The final panel of judges will be made up of the editor and/or creative director from Harper’s BAZAAR (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia editions).
