Tips for cross­ing over to the dark side

Fash­ion is a storm to weather, but one thing that re­mains strong is sexy black – think the LBD, ebony leather, sooty eyes, and jet-black hair. Not only are we see­ing the re­turn of a mod­ern smokey eye, bleached blondes have dark­ened, with that liq­uid sheen seal­ing in au­tumn’s great­est hue. We asked Red­ken hair con­sul­tant Guido Palau, who glossed out the dark pixie cuts at Marc Jacobs – “It was grungy, raw, and real” – and Louis Vuit­ton’s smoul­der­ing French crop – “A lit­tle 1950s, in­spired by a French girl on the Left Bank in Paris.” From punk to el­e­gance, black has all the at­ti­tude re­quired to cap the looks of the sea­son, pre­sented here.
