To­mas Maier’s col­lec­tions have al­ways re­volved around beau­ti­ful, func­tional clothes women will love for­ever. This sea­son’s fo­cus was on dresses, specif­i­cally ’40s-in­spired frocks with state­ment shoul­ders and nipped-in waists. Maier mod­ernised the retro in­flu­ence with his play on vol­ume and sharp­ness. Shoul­ders were over­sized and cut into sharp folds while the pleats that cas­caded down some dresses had an ar­chi­tec­tural feel. Though out­er­wear was rounded and co­cooned the body, they were belted at the waist, a re­al­is­tic and flat­ter­ing way of tack­ling this trend. Toy­ing with the idea of raw beauty, Maier em­broi­dered raf­fia and straw onto dresses, and then softly frayed the edges and hems.
