Working with Penélope Cruz had Stuart Vevers feeling cinematic. The models with their leather shifts and bouffant hair were positively Hitchcockian. Vevers also looks to a Spanish region each season, and for Autumn it was the northern Bilbao. The cold there brought out the collection’s solid outerwear; shaggy furs and tough utilitarian jackets. These were worn with soft silks but Loewe is a leather house so the strongest pieces were the oversized sweaters with geometric patchwork, wrap skirts cut with high slits, and the sporty-luxe hoodies.
