Since Carol Lim and Humberto Leon took over, the Kenzo collections have consistently been a collage of print and colour. This time, the pair looked to India. The country’s gilded glamour resulted in the jacquard separates and printed lamé while the hyper-saturated hues were translated through fire-engine red and royal blue bomber jackets. Those streetwear pieces such as the bombers and sweaters are where the designers have always excelled, and this season they created even more desirable versions featuring crocodile embossing and a witty evil-eye print. Like many others, Lim and Leon also did oversized, rounded shapes but instead of a retro outlook, they kept theirs youthful, modern, and wearable, which basically sums up everything they’ve been doing right at Kenzo so far.
