The Rendez-Vous in the Making
1833 The Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture is founded by Antoine LeCoultre. 1847 Antoine LeCoultre creates a revolutionary system using a simple pushbutton that eliminates the need for keys to rewind and set watches. 1866 LeCoultre & Cie becomes the first Manufacture of the Joux Valley. 1870 For the first time in watchmaking history, calibres are manufactured with complications in small series, improving the accuracy and dependability of timepieces. 1885 Having mastered the art of miniaturisation, the Manufacture creates even smaller calibres for ladies’ delicate watches. 1910 Jacques-David LeCoultre and Edmond Jaeger play a pioneering role in the development of wristwatches, equipping the very first wristwatches with technically advanced mechanical calibres. 1937 Horology enthusiasts celebrate the official birth of the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand. 1989 The Grand Réveil achieves the feat of incorporating a perpetual calendar and an alarm within the confined space of a wristwatch. 2002 The Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture invents a beautiful new fine jewellery technique: Snow-setting. 2013 Chinese celebrity Zhao Wei continues the brand’s partnership with the Shanghai International Film Festival.
