EUGÉNIE’S NEW JEWELS
“The name is a combination of Venus and onyx, a planet and a stone,” says Eugénie Niarchos of her jewellery line, Venys. Her Reptilia collection takes its inspiration from amphibious creatures, which Niarchos became enamoured with during late nights watching the National Geographic Channel. While this is her first solo venture, Niarchos is no stranger to the medium. Besides her previous line developed with childhood friend Gaia Repossi, she also created two capsule collections for Azzaro, studied jewellery design at the Gemological Institute of America, and apprenticed in the jewellery department at Christie’s auction house.
Spotted at her Paris launch were Bianca Brandolini d’Adda and Tatiana Santo Domingo, who was wearing an Azzedine Alaïa top that looked a lot like one of her pieces. “It was fake crocodile, though!” she’s quick to add.
