DIET

Harper’s Bazaar (Malaysia) - - Beauty -

Breakfast: “I start the day with fresh papaya and oats – sometimes with cereal or organic muesli mixed with walnuts – or scrambled eggs with black pepper.” Lunch: “I usually have something that will sustain me throughout the day, like aglio olio pasta. There’s this cosy café in my neighbourhood called Amelios; the fresh tomato soup, mushroom pizza, and black sesame gelato are just amazing.” Dinner: “It could be teriyaki chicken, or I might have a quinoa salad with tomatoes and feta cheese. I always use ground black pepper and sea salt as condiments, which you can grind yourself from those stainless steel canisters. I shop often at Ben’s and Mercato for my ingredients.” Dessert: “I didn’t think I would like ice-cream made from black sesame seeds but I do. It’s unique and really refreshing. I also like to have chocolate, and carrot cake occasionally – Alexis serves the best.”

FITNESS

“I play tennis and tap dance. [Struys has over 20 years of tap dance experience under her belt.] I love hiking through nature in FRIM. I regularly meditate at home to keep myself grounded and to help clear mental clutter. Stopping to meditate when I find myself in a beautiful spot outdoors where I just want to sit and enjoy the relaxing surroundings is not unusual for me either, even if it’s only for a few precious moments. Keeping active, I try to drink a lot of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Water is so important; it replenishes your energy.”

BEAUTY

“I always thoroughly remove all make-up at the end of the day, no matter how tired I am. I’m actually using a variety of brands; after my cleanser I follow up with Estée Lauder Optimizer Intensive Hydration Boosting toner, and a full regime – Clinique Repairwear is superb; Kinerase C8 Peptide Intensive Treatment serum; and Kinerase Advanced Lotion. At night, I also put on Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I like AesopParsley Seed Cleansing Masque to remove impurities, The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask for when my skin is feeling dry, and the Charcoal Mask from Origins.

As for make-up, I love Shu Uemura’s foundations, and I tend to pick up my eyeshadows and liquid eyeliners from MAC as it has such a wide range of beautiful colours. Usually, I just apply mascara and blush, then maybe dust on some light powder – I love Clinique’s face powder – and I am all set.

I visit Rick Lee of Signature Sense Studio to get my hair cut; and my home treatments are usually from Pureology because it is natural and 100 percent vegan. Oh, and I simply love Kérastase Oléo-Relax for a good pampering session.

Harnn and Thann Lemongrass Scrub from Thailand is my favourite whenever I really need to exfoliate my body; L’Occitane Verbena Sea Salt Scrub is fantastic, too. Fragrance completes my wardrobe. I usually head out with a spritz of DKNY Be Delicious, or Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue.”
