BY KATY PERRY

Harper’s Bazaar (Malaysia) - - Talking Points -

Growing up after the cotton-candy joy of her Teenage Dream, Perry displays a suprising vulnerability and stark maturity in her new album, no doubt a reflection of changes in both her personal life and growth as an artist. “I went through a lot of experiences in my life that I think built more character,” she said. “I had to find my own identity the hard way. But I did. I came out alive and stronger, a little bit stronger.” Such strength is evident in the powerful vibe of “By the Grace of God”, nicely juxtaposed with the lightness of “Birthday”. Her personal favourite is “Unconditionally”, in which she sings of pure love.
