Show sets create the perfect backdrop for the new season’s clothing, and complete the designer’s vision in its entirety. Who can forget that massive iceberg Chanel brought in for its Autumn/Winter ’10 show? This season, Karl Lagerfeld decided to show in a Chanel “art gallery” filled with paintings and sculptures. For his last show at Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs revisited past sets; back came the lifts and the beautiful horse carousel, this time painted in all black. More artwork was seen at Prada, where Miuccia Prada brought in mural artists to paint the entire show space. Nature was the key influence at Dior and Hermès – Dior opted for exotic flowers on the walls and hanging overhead, while Hermès chose Orangerie et Jardin du Luxembourg, complete with lush greens and a gravel path.
