Co-founder of It-popsicles The Potong Artisan Pops takes Malaysians down memory lane one icy cold lick at a time.

Harper’s Bazaar (Malaysia) - - The Fashionable Life Bazaar -

What was the delicious inspiration behind The Potong Artisan Pops? Victor Tee and I embarked upon one of our many food adventures, when we discovered the perfect treat for a hot sunny day – the

potong. Inspiration kicked in and ideas began rolling. We then started playing around with different ingredients to update and jazz up this classic dessert.

So, what do they call you? I’m the Potong Man. In a country that is hot and humid all year round, what’s better than to be surrounded by ice cream 24/7? Dessert doesn’t always have to be a guilty pleasure. What’s the secret behind these healthy treats? Our potongs are made from 100% all-natural ingredients. The most interesting flavour you’ve created? Most of our flavours have a twist but my favourites are Wasabi Lychee, Strawberry Pepper, and Spicy Pineapple. These flavours have raised a few eyebrows! Oddest ice cream flavour you have tasted? Squid ink risotto ice cream in Japan. It was mind-blowing and strange. A fashion-inspired potong? Prints! It would definitely be animal or geometric. We are still trying to figure out how to print on ice. Sneak peek of an upcoming flavour? The king of fruits, perhaps. Watch this space for durian-flavoured pops. The Potong Artisan Pops, Level UG, Publika Solaris Dutamas. Tel: 016-682 2221. www.thepotong.com
