If it’s old-world charm you’re after, head over to The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur for traditional English afternoon tea at the aptly named Colonial Café. Recalling the elegance of decades past, the Tea Lounge in the Majestic Wing is all warm tones, with plush sofas and armchairs to recline in as you listen to tunes from the grand piano. French double doors open out onto the verdant front lawn – a serene setting for a leisurely tea of scones, finger sandwiches, pastries, and savouries served on a three-tier stand.

Take your pick from the Majestic-blend tea or brewed coffee to accompany perfectly formed pastries. For something more indulgent, book the Orchid Conservatory to sit surrounded by orchids of myriad colours blooming within a glass atrium. Afternoon Tea on Valentine’s Day at the Colonial Café is priced at RM58++ at the Tea Lounge, RM88++ at the Drawing Room, and RM108++ at the Orchid Conservatory. Afternoon tea is from 3pm to 6pm. www.majestichotelkl.com
