c. 1955, Andy Warhol Who knew a household staple could be an iconic work of art? Andy Warhol’s soup cans are in a league of their own, marking his breakthrough into an art form of serial repetition. For the first time in history, the Museum of Modern Art will display the cans in a single line rather than a grid, mirroring the way it was first exhibited in 1962. ‘Andy Warhol: Campbell’s Soup Cans and Other Works, 1953-1967’ will also showcase illustrations, books, prints, and paintings.
