French aristocrat Jacqueline de Ribes has charmed the fashion world over the years with her originality and pensive elegance. In tribute, the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition, ‘Jacqueline de Ribes: The Art of Style,’ delves into the fashion icon’s personal archives, featuring around 60 ensembles of haute couture and ready-towear dating from 1959 to the present. Adding depth to the premise is de Ribes’s artistic expressions, one being the fancy dress costumes she had often made from her own gowns. Also featured are photographs and ephemera documenting her transition from a young girl playing dress-up to being the epitome of style in the international fashion scene. From Nov 19, 2015 to Feb 21, 2016 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. www.metmuseum.org
