The de­sire to sur­vive is in­stinc­tive and alive in us, but for the women who have fought breast can­cer and those who are still bat­tling it to­day, ev­ery day is a tes­ta­ment of their true courage. BAZAAR kicked off its an­nual Pink Project with a Pink Partea at The Westin KL on the first day of Breast Can­cer Aware­ness Month, which much fer­vour and style. The charm­ing event saw Bernie Chan, one of the five fe­male stars of this year’s Pink Project, as the em­cee of the tea party, along with es­teemed guests who have been cham­pi­ons of this cam­paign since day one. Decked in shades of pink and one of the five lim­ited-edi­tion de­signer pink rib­bons ex­clu­sively made for the Pink Project ini­tia­tive by es­tab­lished Malaysian de­sign­ers Khoon Hooi, Sereni & Shen­tel, Izrin Ismail for In­nai, Ce­lest Thoi, and Sonny San for Eclipse, at­ten­dees took turns fill­ing out their pledge cards to spread cam­paign aware­ness. On top of the de­lec­ta­ble spread and rounds of Château Gassier Rosé, cour­tesy of Cald­beck Macgre­gor, artists Poova and Ushera Yu­sof ser­e­naded pretty-in-pink guests, who all went home with Tish Rose In­spirée can­dles.

Col­lab­o­rat­ing closely with the Breast Can­cer Wel­fare As­so­ci­a­tion (BCWA) Malaysia, BAZAAR launched its first road­show with BCWA’s mobile unit, MURNI, parked out front, invit­ing ev­ery­one to get “in the pink” of health and par­tic­i­pate in ed­u­cat­ing them­selves on this once ta­boo sub­ject. Pro­ceeds from the Pink Partea and de­signer pink rib­bon sales go to the BCWA and mam­mo­gram fund­ing sup­port for women. To date, BAZAAR has raised RM13,800, with the sup­port of Par­fums Chris­tian Dior, L’Oreal Pro­fes­sion­nel, Estée Lauder, The Gar­dens Mall, Pav­il­ion KL, Suria KLCC, Shi­seido, and Kosé.
