PRIDE IN PINK
The desire to survive is instinctive and alive in us, but for the women who have fought breast cancer and those who are still battling it today, every day is a testament of their true courage. BAZAAR kicked off its annual Pink Project with a Pink Partea at The Westin KL on the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which much fervour and style. The charming event saw Bernie Chan, one of the five female stars of this year’s Pink Project, as the emcee of the tea party, along with esteemed guests who have been champions of this campaign since day one. Decked in shades of pink and one of the five limited-edition designer pink ribbons exclusively made for the Pink Project initiative by established Malaysian designers Khoon Hooi, Sereni & Shentel, Izrin Ismail for Innai, Celest Thoi, and Sonny San for Eclipse, attendees took turns filling out their pledge cards to spread campaign awareness. On top of the delectable spread and rounds of Château Gassier Rosé, courtesy of Caldbeck Macgregor, artists Poova and Ushera Yusof serenaded pretty-in-pink guests, who all went home with Tish Rose Inspirée candles.
Collaborating closely with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) Malaysia, BAZAAR launched its first roadshow with BCWA’s mobile unit, MURNI, parked out front, inviting everyone to get “in the pink” of health and participate in educating themselves on this once taboo subject. Proceeds from the Pink Partea and designer pink ribbon sales go to the BCWA and mammogram funding support for women. To date, BAZAAR has raised RM13,800, with the support of Parfums Christian Dior, L’Oreal Professionnel, Estée Lauder, The Gardens Mall, Pavilion KL, Suria KLCC, Shiseido, and Kosé.
