Harper’s Bazaar (Malaysia) - - The Style - On Shawna: Shirt, Hackett. Trousers, Emporio Armani. Earrings (worn on sleeves), Miu Miu. Beret, Gucci. Jacket (on chair), Emporio Armani. Shoes, Shawna’s own.

Trust a lady whose mother is a style icon to dish out one of the most fascinating things about fashion. “It’s amazing how everything just keeps repeating itself!” says KoreanAmerican Shawna Yap, whose style repertoire is just as irreverent as her own personality. “Looking through my mother’s wardrobe throughout the years made me realise how trends kept going around in circles,” she explains. True to that thought, her power-suit look for our shoot is reminiscent of the actress Joan Crawford in MGM’s 1933 Today We Live. Paired with a crisp white shirt, tailored trousers, and a beret, Shawna brought Joan Crawford back to life, and it was her spark and charm that played the part. “To me, happiness is beauty. And the happiest people are the most beautiful of all.”
