Is silver a colour or an attitude? By Li Ying Lim.
A pseudoscientific hue; a silk screen for the eyes; an envious glow in the complexion, as if moonlit – the colour silver is an atypical evocation that escapes definition. Think galactic adventures in spacesuits, or futurist visions of Courrèges fashion, and yet beauty has rein reinterpreted the meteoric shade with much romantic romanticism – the wintry face of a Brontë novel walked down the season’s runways with gauze-like eyese and silver-halo hair. Utterly contempora contemporary, too, there is something so lavish aboutabou uncapping a silver flacon cap and spritzing o on a fragrance that hints of tingling sensations sensations. As Lord Byron wrote in his aptly titled poe poem, The Silver Pendant Necklace, “And all that’s best of dark and bright; Meet in her asp aspect and her eyes”. Silver is, veritably, the colou colour of an exquisite fox.
