IVORY & PLATINUM
Diorific returns this festive season, taking matt and shimmer, gold and neutrals into beautiful harmony.
At the Dior on Avenue Montaigne, the fashion house is a cocoon of classic neutrality – they call it grège, or greige. It has become the fashion house’s signature, and is inimitably Dior.
With Peter Philips, Dior Make-Up creative and image director, though, you always get a surprising touch, a modern nuance that slips beautifully into the classic. He says in an exclusive interview with
BAZAAR, “You know my portfolio – I can do something very natural, but also go very extreme.” So instead of celebrating the Dior grège as it is, Philips has given the colour a twist. The iconic grey is now infused with a festive tinge of gold for the new Diorific State of Gold collection.
Lovers of matt lipsticks, rejoice. This season, Philips is making lipstick as velvety as it can be, in rich, sexy colours that glide on like second skin. Similarly, the eyeshadow palettes, in both Eternal Gold and Blazing Gold, stay true to Philips’ vision of the Dior girl, whom he calls a “blossoming beauty”.
Radiance and shimmer do come into play, and the spotlight is on the skin. Philips translates his love for glowing nude skin into Diorific Reflets d’Or, a compact of sheer airy powder that illuminates the most flattering facial contours and yet stays natural and breathable. The final touch, bien sûr, is in the details – fusing grey with a constellation of gold in Gris-Or.
