fortunate to have an in-house atelier, which is a real luxury. 1PM Sometimes, I go out for lunch; I think it’s good to make that happen. I go to the Lambs Club occasionally with friends who are in town or with my staff or editors. I always have the Cobb salad. But on a daily basis, I’ll just have Pret A Manger. I like soups through the winter, and a salad or a sandwich in the summer. Anything but shellfish – and I don’t like oysters. Every so often, I’ll have grilled fish, though. 3PM I drink only hot water and lemon throughout the day – I don’t drink coffee. I find that if I have caffeine after a certain time, it affects me when I get to sleep. If it’s close to a show and we’re doing fittings, I’ll leave my phone at my desk. That’s something I expect from other people as well. I know it’s a little harder for them because they have to follow up on things, but I like to feel that everyone is present and concentrating. 8.30PM I leave the office quite late. Rambert and I probably go out more than we stay in. In New York, we go to a lot of black tie events. That wasn’t a big part of our social life in Paris. Throughout the year, we’d attend probably three or four events, but here, there are sometimes three in a week. We live in the West Village, so if we eat out, there are a lot of good choices. I like En Japanese Brasserie, Cookshop, and the Waverly Inn. If we’re home, Rambert will cook. 10PM I spend time with Rambert after dinner, and we talk about our day. I never really work at home. That’s something I don’t do, apart from looking at my Pinterest and going through books. Lauren Santo Domingo introduced me to Pinterest. I like it a lot. I can get very lost in it – it’s so inspirational. I stay up really late; I do a lot of research online, particularly if we’re going on vacation. I also like to look at books. When we came from Paris, I think I shipped about 120 boxes of them. I love books on interiors, historical figures, and gardens. Had I not been in fashion, I’d definitely be working with antiques or interiors or something in those areas. I also collect porcelain plates. I really love china and tea services and plates from the 17th century. Anytime Rambert and I go to a flea market, we can always find something to buy. 12AM I head to bed about an hour after Rambert. I set my alarm, maybe have an herbal tea – usually fennel or licorice – and look at Instagram one last time.

Sometimes, I’ll go to bed around 1.30am. I don’t need a great deal of sleep.
