Ev­ery cre­ation starts with a great con­cept. “In a world that is turn­ing faster and faster, time is be­com­ing some­thing ex­cep­tional,” says Armelle Souraud, in­ter­na­tional sci­en­tific com­mu­ni­ca­tion di­rec­tor of Chanel Par­fums Beauté. “For Chanel, for women, for all of us, time is the ul­ti­mate lux­ury, but also, the ul­ti­mate para­dox: friend and en­emy, time­less and in­stant. And so, we thought, what if we could cap­ture the in­stant and make it time­less?”

Work­ing on such a com­pelling idea meant find­ing a re­mark­able for­mula that could ad­vance an al­ready phe­nom­e­nal prod­uct. “We wanted to give the full power of time back to women,” says Souraud, the con­cept brought to life with a “quasi-in­vis­i­ble trea­sure”. “It’s ex­tremely pre­cious be­cause it’s ephemeral,” she says of the break­through ac­tive mol­e­cules in the Éphémères de Plan­i­fo­lia which pow­ers up the new Sublim­age La Crème.

THE G R E E N D I AMOND

The story of Sublim­age be­gins with the hum­ble vanilla plant, grown and har­vested by a ru­ral com­mu­nity of women in Mada­gas­car, in Chanel’s “open-sky lab­o­ra­to­ries”, and trans­ported im­me­di­ately to the Chanel fa­cil­ity in France to be ex­tracted into ac­tive mol­e­cules with its patented polyfrac­tion­ing tech­nique. It’s here that the magic of na­ture, the skill of the hand, and ad­vanced tech­nol­ogy com­bine to cre­ate this ex­cep­tional skin­care range.

In 2006, the first gen­er­a­tion of Sublim­age La Crème was founded on the vanilla fruit, where the Plan­i­fo­lia PFA tar­geted the five life fac­tors – the cel­lu­lar mes­sen­gers es­sen­tial for skin re­gen­er­a­tion. With age, th­ese life fac­tors di­min­ish in quan­tity, qual­ity, and ef­fec­tive­ness, lim­it­ing the skin’s abil­ity to “com­mu­ni­cate” on a cel­lu­lar level.

Five years later, the vanilla flow­ers were in­tro­duced to Sublim­age L’Essence to power up its an­tiox­i­dant po­tency, and to boost the ef­fec­tive­ness of th­ese “life fac­tors”. For ex­cep­tion­ally trou­bled skin types, this Essence was truly a mir­a­cle.
