FLYING HIGH

The High Line in New York City was filled with an excitement that was almost palpable; it was the beginning of its yearlong fête of its 75th anniversary, but it was also the first Coach 1941 Spring/Summer ’16 runway show. BAZAAR was front and centre to witness this historical moment with Coach, and it was evident in each look that came down the runway (complete with musthave bags of the season), that they were intelligently designed in the spirit of honouring American craftsmanship. 2016 sees the launch of the highly anticipated Coach Heritage campaign, wherein Vevers and his team of highly skilled leather craftsmen have reworked two of Bonnie Cashin’s, founder of Coach’s, original designs from the archives, and created the Saddle and the Dinky bags. Focusing on the simplicity of the iconic ’70s bags, Vevers explains, “Our modern luxury bags symbolise a lot of what Coach is about: great American style, ease, a relaxed quality. This is a return to the much-loved leather.”
