“I’m in my rose period,” says Carolina Herrera, who has always had an eye for feminine florals. “This season, I focused on creating a collection about tranquillity, not stillness but calm elegance.” Cue light-as-feather shift dresses and peekaboo pastel coats that resemble a beautiful garden in bloom. “I was intrigued by the spectrum of a rose, from pale blush to bold fuschia. It allowed me to have a rich palette to explore with hints of neutral accents.” Carolina Herrera Spring/ Summer ’16 sees the Venezuelan-born designer taking it to another level through sheer layering and ornate appliqués floating on the body. “This collection is all about the idea of transparency and illusion evoking sensuality. It’s important to leave something for the imagination. Fashion, after all, is about fantasy!”
