Hermès’s one-of-a-kind Slim d’Hermès Pocket Panthère timepiece is undoubtedly the epitome of unparalleled craftsmanship and exquisite artistry. Discover the secrets of the maison’s latest pièce de résistance. The great cat enamelled on the dial of the timepiece is inspired by an illustration from naturalist artist Robert Dallet, who was a close collaborator of the maison in the 1980s. Grand Feu enamelling was called upon to achieve the panther’s realistic appearance. Each new colour requires the piece to be fired in the kiln at extremely high temperatures, with the Slim d’Hermès Pocket Panthère itself requiring up to 25 firing cycles. The white gold dial is crafted on five different levels—with the deepest reserved for the panther itself. In some places, the pure metal can appear either shiny or matte.
