Go bold or go home—that seems to be on Dior’s current agenda. After its latest Cruise ’17 collection at Blenheim Palace, the French maison set another standard by collaborating with contemporary artist Marc Quinn to reinvent the iconic Lady Dior bag. Here, BAZAAR lays down three things to know about Dior’s latest endeavour with the art world. Quinn’s hyperreal floral interpretations for Dior’s most covetable arm candies are inspired by his ‘In the Night Garden’ series. White, violet, and black orchids play against dramatic landscapes. The Lady Dior Fossil Record bag (only 20 pieces in the world) features a flower relief embossed into silver leather, eternally frozen at full bloom. Even through this collaboration, the artist questions man and his relationship with nature. “‘Iris’ is derived from the Greek word ‘rainbow’, and in the colours, there is a celebration of individuality,” says Quinn.
