CULT FOLLOWING

Armed with paint, Photoshop, and Lego (yes, really), a new generation of creatives are fusing art and style on Instagram. Add these names to your feed. By Jessica Matthews.

WHY FOLLOW?

We have a sneaking suspicion that all the secrets of the universe are located on Loli’s Instagram feed. Like a wormhole to another galaxy (images of space feature heavily in her work), these “metapsychedelic” collages instantly capture the imagination and carry you off to a faraway place (although, in reality, you’re just another person on the train engrossed with their smartphone).

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Surreal collages with a retro feel. Loli works with vintage images to devise spellbinding (and often funny) compositions: giant ice cream cones taking over a city skyline; planet Earth in a toaster; a pair of ballroom dancers whose bodies dissolve into stars. It’s spaced-out, in a good way.
