Bulgari Autumn/Winter ’16 redefines graphic gems with a touch of rock ’n’ roll. By Sharmita Summugam.
t all began with an exotic Autumn/Winter ’16 collection, a supermodel, and a legendary last name thrown into the mix to create magic. The last name is Avedon. Yes, that Avedon, but not
for it is his grandson Michael Avedon that has taken on the lens and is carving a name for himself as a photographer. The young Avedon is behind the Autumn/Winter ’16 campaign shots starring British supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the new face of the Roman jewellery brand’s accessories line. There was a clear artistic direction that summed up the entire collection: rock ’n’ roll shades with glorious gems in new manifestations of Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti and Bulgari-Bulgari collections.
The serpent is one of the most ancient symbols of Greek and Roman mythologies. Taking inspiration from the seductive snake, Bulgari reinterpreted finely crafted symbolisms onto its bags this season. The Quilted Scaglie bag with its two chevron embroideries, adds a scale-like effect on the bag, while the new clasps in the form of a geometric gemstone serpent head inspired by the high jewellery pieces, make it the talk of the town. The Serpenti Forever in glossy phyton bas-relief, made from the front cut of a serpent’s skin, is the rebel of this Autumn/Winter ’16 collection. And
