German model and street-style darling Caroline Daur on her season’s must-haves, social media hacks, and walking for Dolce & Gabbana’s most Insta-famous show. By Amy Yasmine.
Your personal style in a nutshell ... My style is mixed, depending on my mood, but I usually go for an effortlessly chic, fun, and eclectic vibe. Fashion influences ... My style is influenced by my friends but also by the city I’m in and its energy. I also find inspiration in magazine editorials. Autumn/Winter ’17 must-haves ... A Balenciaga puff jacket for the cool weather and an orange Céline bag for a pop of colour. You never leave home without ... My layered golden necklaces. Go-to styling trick ... Mixing oversized items with sexier, more form-fitting clothes. Fashion week essentials ... Power bank and snacks! Getting dressed for the day and night ... I never plan my outfits, although its probably a smart way to save time. I like to be spontaneous. Packing dos for the stylish jet-setter ... I overpack way too much, but I do try to mix simple essentials and a few statement pieces. Walking for Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/ Winter ’17 ... My experience with Dolce & Gabbana has been the most thrilling and fun experience. Stefano and Domenico truly make you feel part of the family. They initially reached out to me and since then, I’m proud to say I’ve walked my fifth show for them. Number one rule of being on social media ... Never take yourself too seriously. People like to see realness, authenticity, and imperfections. Curating your Instagram profile ... I try to use the same filters with all my photos to give a common theme. Dos and don’ts on social media ... Do: Show your personality and keep it fun. Don’t: Only post photos of yourself or make fun of others publicly. Best style tip ever received ... Don’t overthink it. The difference between “good” and “great” style ... “Good” style is copying others’ outfits you like and following trends, but a “great” style is staying inspired while making it your own and starting trends. @carodaur
