FIT-KID GUIDE

Herworld (Malaysia) - - KIDS TAKEOVER -

“These fun and easy tips motivate children like me to make healthy lifestyle choices and stay fit,” says Alia Abu Bakar Fikri.

1 EXERCISE TOGETHER

One of the simplest ways to make exercise more fun and consistent is to do it in a group or with a partner. Be it a morning run or exercising at the gym – everything is better with company!

2 REWARD YOURSELF

Set a goal each time you exercise – and reward yourself! For example, you could have a very busy day in school with extra classes. Set a goal of walking 10,000 steps, and once you’ve completed it, reward yourself with something nice (e.g. ice cream or slime in your favourite colour). You should give yourself a reward as this will help keep you motivated, so you’ll go on to complete future tasks that you’ve set for yourself.

3 CHANGE VENUES

Going to the park and playing with the wide variety of equipment is great exercise! The next day, you could go to the gym and run on the treadmill, go for a yoga class to relax your mind, or even come up with some exercises to do while finishing your chores. With your chores and exercise done, you’ll free up even more time in your day!

4 PUT YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC ON

Exercising in silence can be boring, and can make you lose interest fast. Try exercising to upbeat music that will lift up your spirits! Match different types of music to different workout routines. It will lighten up your mood and make time fly by.

5 TRY DIFFERENT EXERCISES

Go running one day, and jump like a kangaroo or do house chores on another day. Different exercises will keep your interest going while working different muscles! You’ll also find your favourite, which you’ll feel comfortable doing with a friend or alone. Yoga is a great one to do at the end of the week, because you would have just done a long week of unique exercises.

These are some ways to make exercise easy and fun for you, your friends, and your family. I hope you can incorporate these ideas into your daily routine. Enjoy and have fun!
