, It s Happened to be a Closet
In contrast to the industrial hip design of L’Usine, It’s Happened to be a Closet is a clear nod to the European vintage style. The place is divided into two main spaces: a shop on the ground floor and a nail parlour and cocktail bar on the second. Like the name of the clothing brand it trades on, Palette, the shop emerges like a treasure wonderland in various colour palettes. The setting evokes the impression of colourful and cheerful chaos, whilst upstairs it creates a sense of order with a trace of theatrical extravagance. Everything glitters and sparkles. The first spot is the cocktail bar corner kitted out with dazzling patterned wallpaper, a retro British couch, a mirror with lavish gold trimmings and a floor-to-ceiling wooden shelf filled with jars of cooking ingredients, antique floral print teacups, toys, cookbooks and a Mr. Beans doll. Further into the shop is a banquette dining table with a gleaming chandelier and at the end of the room is the nail parlour complete with a Louis XV styled armchair, a dome-like window and a taxidermied deer hanging on the wall. The whole place screams rococo deluxe. But what’s really interesting about this place is the way it blends both girly and hipster into its mix.
