Off The Beaten Path with Samsung
Takes media to a forest to show just how ‘Active’ their new GALAXY S4 Active is
Talk about going the distance. Samsung decided that not only did they want to give us a preview of the latest GALAXY S4 Active, they also wanted to do so in style. The Korean electronics giant took us (the media) out on a field trip at their “top secret” testing facility (the Kemensah Forest Reserve, just off Zoo Negara).
Clearly, during our journey to the location, we had a pretty good idea of the venue for the event that Samsung had in store for us. The meeting point: an open-air building of which the All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) waited for us. For those of you who don’t know, an ATV is a vehicle that is designed to weather the elements and brave the terrain, such as a forests, snowcovered plains or rocky mountains. Even on rough terrain, these vehicles are capable of hitting speeds as high as 80km/h.
Needless to say, we were taken off the beaten road and into the deep end of the forest reserve, where we were asked to participate in some fun games prepared in advance by Samsung. But the star of the show during the entire outing was the GALAXY S4 Active. To show us that Samsung’s rugged variation of its popular phone lives up to its IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, they gave us all units of the phone to test out. We dunked the S4 Active into streams, poured sand all over it and even took videos with it while riding on the ATVs.
