WeChat 5.1, the next iteration of the popular instant messenger app, will introduce WeChat Game Center, a feature where you can challenge your friends with fun and exciting games. The Game Center will first launch with two games: Pencil Pilot and Craz3 Match, and is expected to launch for both Android and iOS in early 2014.

According to Louis Song, Country Manager of WeChat Malaysia and Singapore, the introduction of stickers and WeChat Game Center is merely the beginning, as WeChat will introduce more and more usercentric features in the future.

At a recent media luncheon, Song said that the philosophy behind WeChat is to prioritize user experience, and facilitate users’ needs and everyday activities. He also said that in the future, WeChat is looking to launch a payment gateway system in Malaysia.

The system will use QR codes and will connect merchants directly to their customers for a more personalized experience. Song added that the system could also connect banks with their clients and could be used as a tool to implement future security measures.

WeChat is already widely used in China and is implemented by many business, online merchants, retailers, and banking institutions in China. Currently, WeChat are in talks with the retailers, merchants, and banks in Malaysia to implement the system.

To further mark Malaysia as the forefront of WeChat’s international growth, WeChat will open a regional office in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2014.
