Avnet Outlines SAP Offering in Malaysia
Leading IT Distributor Expands Middleware Products to Wider Market
In the month of December, Avnet outlined its SAP solutions business strategy within Malaysia. According to the company, Malaysia’s new distribution agreement aligns with Avnet’s strategy to expand its middleware product portfolio. To expand its middleware product portfolio, Avnet has chosen to target the financial services industry (FSI) and mid-range SME commercial markets in the country.
“Although SAP already has an established set of standard enterprise resource planning solution users in Malaysia, there are still big opportunities for growth. Avnet Malaysia’s strategy is to fill this gap by offering SAP analytical and converged infrastructure capabilities especially targeting the underserved market of unconventional and non-SAPbased enterprise software customers via our channel partners,” said Chiew Yue Lam, General Manager of Avnet Technology Solutions, Malaysia.
Currently, Avnet Malaysia is working with several SAP-related IT implementation projects within the Malaysian government sector. In the future, the company is planning to promote SAP enterprise middleware and inmemory SAP HANA capabilities to other potential sectors.
Local organization are currently gearing to adopt new enterprise software as well as upgrade their IT infrastructures to comply with the upcoming GST (Goods and Services Tax), which is expect to be implemented in April 2015.
“The partnership with SAP is timely for us to embark on the new opportunities that come from this GST policy. Avnet plans to rapidly educate and enable a community of partners on the industry, sales and technical skills that can help local organizations solve business challenges arising from GST implementation,” said Chiew.
