Coffee While ‘WeChat’
Wechat and local coffee chain espressolab enter partnership
Love drinking coffee? Love chatting with people on WeChat? Well, how about talking with them over a cup of coffee at EspressoLab? Why EspressoLab, you ask? That’s because both the company that owns Wechat, Tencent Holdings Ltd, and the company that operates the home grown coffee chain are now in a partnership and have created an exclusive and special app for EspressoLab.
The two companies announced their partnership last month over a cup of coffee (pun intended) at one of their outlets, which was located in Plaza Low Yat. There to shake hands on the deal was WeChat representative, Leong Y.E., Business Development Director for WeChat Malaysia, Tencent Holdings Ltd and Kelly Leong, CEO of EspressoLab.
“WeChat Malaysia has been actively engaging brands in Malaysia to expand our reach and generate more exclusive content to our users. We are proud to announce today’s partnership with a big brand such as EspressoLab to enhance our portfolio of brands for WeChat in Malaysia, in which a lot of effort has been put in by the local team,” Y.E. said during the event.
In order to commemorate the event, a special EspressoLab offer on coffees was made available to WeChat users, starting from March 10 and up until March 30, 2014. The offer was a 50 percent discount on all EspressoLab coffee being served at participating outlets. All WeChat users had to do is to scan specially made QR codes, which were provided at the respective and participating outlets.
