Wechat and lo­cal cof­fee chain espres­solab en­ter part­ner­ship

Love drink­ing cof­fee? Love chat­ting with people on WeChat? Well, how about talk­ing with them over a cup of cof­fee at Espres­soLab? Why Espres­soLab, you ask? That’s be­cause both the com­pany that owns Wechat, Ten­cent Hold­ings Ltd, and the com­pany that op­er­ates the home grown cof­fee chain are now in a part­ner­ship and have cre­ated an exclusive and spe­cial app for Espres­soLab.

The two com­pa­nies an­nounced their part­ner­ship last month over a cup of cof­fee (pun in­tended) at one of their out­lets, which was lo­cated in Plaza Low Yat. There to shake hands on the deal was WeChat rep­re­sen­ta­tive, Leong Y.E., Busi­ness De­vel­op­ment Di­rec­tor for WeChat Malaysia, Ten­cent Hold­ings Ltd and Kelly Leong, CEO of Espres­soLab.

“WeChat Malaysia has been ac­tively en­gag­ing brands in Malaysia to ex­pand our reach and gen­er­ate more exclusive con­tent to our users. We are proud to an­nounce to­day’s part­ner­ship with a big brand such as Espres­soLab to en­hance our port­fo­lio of brands for WeChat in Malaysia, in which a lot of ef­fort has been put in by the lo­cal team,” Y.E. said dur­ing the event.

In or­der to com­mem­o­rate the event, a spe­cial Espres­soLab of­fer on cof­fees was made avail­able to WeChat users, start­ing from March 10 and up un­til March 30, 2014. The of­fer was a 50 per­cent dis­count on all Espres­soLab cof­fee be­ing served at par­tic­i­pat­ing out­lets. All WeChat users had to do is to scan spe­cially made QR codes, which were pro­vided at the re­spec­tive and par­tic­i­pat­ing out­lets.
