SanDisk Launches Two New USB Drives
Meet the Extreme PRO USB 3.0 and the Ultra Dual USB Drive
SanDisk, one of the leading manufacturers in flash storage solutions, unveiled two new USB storage drives in Kuala Lumpur in late February. The two USB drives are called the SanDisk Extreme PRO USB 3.0 and the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive. Mark Eng, Country Manager, Singapore and Malaysia, and Hui Low, Manager, Product Marketing Management, Asia Pacific, both of SanDisk Corporation, were present to launch these two products.
First introduced was the SanDisk Extreme PRO USB 3.0, a USB drive that makes use of an aluminum casing. It boasts read and write speeds of 260MB/s and 240MB/s respectively, which are arguably the fastest transfer rates for a USB 3.0 drive on the market today. With 128GB of storage space and bundled with SanDisk’s SecureAccess software, this product is targeted at professionals who need fast transfer speeds and a secure data environment. The SecureAccess software provides a password-protected vault that’s secured with a 128-bit AES encryption. Locally, this product is priced at RM699.
The SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive, on the other hand, is a USB drive with two purposes – providing standard data transfer between PCs, as well as data transfer between mobile devices that support USB OnThe-Go (OTG) connectivity. This is done by having both a standard USB 2.0 connector and a micro-USB connector. Currently, this USB drive is available in variants of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The 16GB variant is priced at RM55, while the range-topping 64GB is priced at RM155.
