THE SMART DEVICES
It just wouldn’t be a Samsung Forum without the mention or presence of the company’s most popular tablets or smartphones. Sadly, the giant had been quiet about anything relating to their next flagship smartphone (the GALAXY S5, which was officially announced during MWC 2014) the whole time, but what they did talk about was the upcoming tablet range: the GALAXY NotePRO and TabPRO series.
For those of who have been following us, both on HWM and our online portal, HardwareZone, we got a chance to preview the 12.2-inch NotePRO early. The good news is that the NotePRO 12.2 is definitely hitting the Malaysian market. Also, if you wish to know our thoughts about this tablet, you may do so by checking out our review in the March 2014 issue.
Samsung’s Tab line of tablets was also present during the Forum. However, the company had revamped the entire range and renamed them to the TabPRO lineup. Like the NotePRO 12.2, the TabPRO line of tablets shares pretty much the same hardware and specifications. In fact, the only difference between the NotePRO and TabPRO line is the addition of an S Pen on the NotePRO 12.2. Besides that, the TabPRO tablets all come fitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM (2GB for the 10.1-inch and 8.4-inch variant) and the same gorgeous 2560 x 1600 resolution display.
Of the three available sizes, the 8.4-inch variant of the TabPRO was the tablet that piqued our interest. It’s a tablet the size of a small book, but it packs the same number of pixels as its big brothers. Coupled with an extremely fast, up-to-date processor and what we have here is a tablet that is not only easy to handle, but extremely fast and responsive to the touch. Don’t get us wrong, its bigger brothers, the 12.2-inch and 10.1-inch were fast, but the 8.4inch somehow seemed to perform a little faster than them.
…and so was the TabPRO family. Seen here is the TabPRO 10.1.
The TabPRO 8.4 impressed us very much.
